On October 28, 2021, Google formally unveiled Material You, its newest theming system, along with Android 12. That was a revolution, and it has continued ever since. Let’s learn more about Material You and how to use it in your Android application.
Material You strive to develop designs that are personal for every style, accessible for every need, and alive and adaptable for every screen. Users’ important understanding is that they select wallpapers to suit their thoughts. Material You Build on this information to create one-of-a-kind Material palettes depending on their wallpaper. Applications for Android that have been updated or developed using Material You, will get used to the new colour scheme that is generated every time the wallpaper is changed.

### Integrating Dynamic Color

2. Colors extracted from a wallpaper
3. Colors extracted from the content

The `DynamicColors` class from the Material library taps into Activity Lifecycle Callbacks to determine when and how to apply color overlays. Using the supplied API calls, you can apply dynamic color to a subset or the entire app. You can also determine when and where dynamic color should be applied. For all this to happen add this line to the onCreate() method

DynamicColors.applyToActivitiesIfAvailable(this);

And basic onCreate() method will look like

public class MyApplication extends Application { 
 [@Override](http://twitter.com/Override "Twitter profile for @Override")

There are all the changes you need to do to your existing project to migrate it from M2 to M3 — Now your app adapts to the user wallpaper and will change its color based on the colors generated from the wallpaper dynamically.

### Here’s an example of a basic Material 3-supported application for demonstration :

This application is used to calculate Tip, after eating in the hotel and the elements used here are material 3 elements which follow dynamic colouring
